Art Atelier Vaticano

We had a great time here. The view was amazing, the location was good, and the host was awesome.

The interior is IKEA and similar, and you have to share the terrace with other guests. The place is clean, the location is very good, and staff respond quickly. Breakfast was yogurt, coffee, and snacks.

We agreed with the landlord after this disaster to leave the “Atelier” immediately, after 24 hours. Despite that agreement, check-in was supposed to be online only. We couldn’t unload our luggage in front of the building either. The room looked out onto the courtyard, while the shared mini terrace had a lovely view of the Vatican. Breakfast was very meager. Parking was only arranged through someone else and cost extra. Be careful, the bed and breakfast also has an even smaller separate room where other, unfamiliar people are accommodated. This booking was a disaster for us. The landlord deletes negative reviews, so beware! This Atelier turned out to be a dump. The toilet seat was broken, the tap was broken, and the fridge didn’t work. Water wouldn’t drain in the shower, and after three minutes of showering the tiny “apartment” was completely flooded. The sink was the same. The air conditioning sounded like a helicopter starting up, and its water leaked, flooding the tiny room even more. The covering film on the doors was already badly damaged from previous water damage. The Atelier was about the size of an undersized student room. The sign at the entrance gate on the street said rooms were also available by the hour... interesting.

Two things were really good: the mattress, which was the best I’ve ever found, and the location and view. The place was wonderful, with an enchanting view, and the little terrace was amazing. Even with the problems, I think I’d return. I’m having a hard time writing this review. Sometimes it would take so little to get only excellent ratings. The toilet wouldn’t flush. There was a showerhead in the bathroom, but the water flow was so limited it would be better to fix the toilet. The room always gave me the feeling it wasn’t perfectly clean. Maybe the black shoe mark I found on the curtain when I arrived added to that feeling. In the shared kitchen, a cabinet door got stuck in my hand when I opened it. It stayed that way over the following days, and who knows for how long. The breakfast food could definitely be better. The selection was wide, but they could do more than put out the “under-brand” option.
