Hotel Artis

The breakfast was the one decent part of our stay. The room itself was filthy, with dusty AC that only blew cold air, even though it was May. Reception said they only turn on heating in winter. There was a bad drain smell, a broken safe, and no slippers, so we had to walk barefoot on cold, dirty tiles. We got water at check-in, then were told to buy more from the vending machine, which had none. Staff were rude and unprofessional. A terrible decision, and an awful experience. Don't stay here.

Getting into the city meant a taxi every day because the hotel is so remote. At night, the staff were noisy enough that we barely slept, and breakfast had very little food each day. We were a family of five and had booked two twin rooms plus an accessible room, but were given rooms near reception with a large double bed in each. The accessible room was too small for a wheelchair. That left our 14-year-old boy sharing with his dad, and our 19-year-old girl sharing with her mum, while we switched rooms so the disabled person could have an accessible one. They had twin rooms, but when we raised the problem, staff were rude and didn't want to fix it. This definitely isn't a four-star hotel. If you're a tourist, do your research before booking. They seemed to save their friendliness for their own language.

The hotel has a restaurant and bar, though we didn't try either. In the room, there was a hairdryer, safe and free air-con. Staff were friendly, the room was clean and the bed was made every day. It's a little out of the way, but the metro is an 8-10 minute walk and you can get to the Colosseum from there. The blue line also goes to terminal central Rome.

The residential area felt deserted, with apartments all around and nothing nearby for at least a 10-minute radius. The supermarket next door is permanently closed, and public transport is limited. The nearest metro is 11 minutes away, and getting to the city centre takes multiple changes. Buses from here don't go to the centre. Inside, the hotel was clean, the beds were made daily, and the AC worked well, but the basic rooms didn't match the photos. I even found a centipede crawling in my room. The buffet breakfast wasn't to my taste and had less variety than at other hotels. The woman in the kitchen was quite rude, while the male stewards were nice. They didn't speak English, so we used Google Translate. Reception staff were friendly, but not consistently. I stayed for four days in July 2025, booked through love holidays. This definitely isn't the four-star hotel advertised. Do your homework and book somewhere else as a tourist.
