Domus Romana B & B

Kartica was really sweet when she checked us in. We had a very nice stay, and both the bedroom and bathroom were clean. Everything worked properly, and it was super convenient to be within walking distance of so many Rome attractions.

We left just 15 minutes after checking in because the room was unfit to stay in. It was in a basement, something the listing never mentioned, and looked nothing like the photos. The only window that opened was in the bathroom, facing the street above, so people walking by could look down while you showered or used the toilet. Keep it shut and there was no airflow, and the fan was broken. I booked because Expedia rated it above 9, so be careful about the advertising and reviews. It was also listed as Domus Romana B&B, but they told us breakfast wasn't included.

The room was freezing in mid-December, with neither working heating nor hot water. At night we heard loud, strange noises that scared us and kept us from sleeping properly. We reported the problems to management, but got no reply and nothing changed during our stay. Check-in was also delayed by more than an hour because staff arrived an hour after the stated time. Be aware of these issues and double-check everything before you check in.

A decent budget choice, and close to the Colosseum. We arrived at midnight, but the person in charge still helped us out. Breakfast options included muesli and croissants. I'd recommend it for two people looking to save money.
