B&B Vatican Golden Rooms

The room was cold and uncomfortable, with marble flooring that felt freezing and no heating. That made the stay especially unpleasant with a newborn. We were charged €20 for a crib for a baby under one, but it was poor quality and too low, so we couldn’t use it. They gave us a mattress/sofa instead and still charged the full amount. The room’s tea service was just very cheap, tasteless tea bags. This also isn’t really a hotel, but a converted apartment with only four rooms. The doors are very noisy, and other guests closing them kept disturbing us. Our experience at the Vatican Golden Rooms was extremely negative and disappointing. We don’t recommend this property.

It’s a small guesthouse, not far from the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica, both within walking distance. There are little shops nearby. The owner seemed very kind. The room was reasonably clean, the bed was okay, neither too soft nor too firm, and the bathroom had a small shower cubicle that could feel very cramped for a large man. There’s an old-fashioned lift for luggage, but it’s quite old and a bit scary, so I’d rather take the stairs.
