Babuino - WR Apartments

Babuino 79 was one of the nicest one-bedroom apartments I've stayed in during 40 years of European travel. It's in an older building that's been completely remodeled, and has a large main room with a bed, couch, desk, and another table with chairs. The kitchenette by the entrance includes a dishwasher, oven, and microwave. The bathroom felt brand new, had plenty of hot water, and a nicely sized shower. Two floor-to-ceiling windows open onto Via Babuino, but shut out the sound completely when closed. The apartment was small-apartment sized, with concierge service and on-site room cleaning like a good hotel, plus laundry facilities in the basement. Staff responded quickly to everything. It's between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza di Popolo, and the price was very competitive for the property and location. I almost don't want to share this place.

We spent nine nights here and enjoyed every one. Lucky, Carlos, and Nadia were helpful with explaining the room and bringing extra water or housekeeping when we asked. The bed was firm and comfortable, with lots of drawers, a good-sized closet, and a comfortable bathroom. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed for breakfasts and dinners, including utensils, pans, plates, silverware, plastic wrap, and storage containers for leftovers. The washers and dryers worked well with tokens, and laundry soap was provided. Housekeeping was available when needed and did a thorough, efficient job. We were near Piazza Popolo and the Spanish Steps, and could walk to the Vatican, Tiber River, Coleseum, and Trastavere.

I felt right at home in this lovely old building. The apartment was clean and comfortable, had everything I needed, and Nadia was so welcoming and helpful.

We were really pleased with our booking. The two-level apartment had a cute city balcony, and the atmosphere was just right. It wasn't too expensive, and it's right in the city, very close to the Spanish Steps.
