Best Suites Pantheon

The floors could have used a sweep, but otherwise I’d gladly come back. The place is right on the Pantheon steps, the rooms are nice, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is at a nearby café, where we had a croissant and tea or coffee. Definitely five stars from me.

Breakfast came as a voucher for coffee and a croissant at a nearby bar. A coffee machine in the B&B would be a handy addition. The room was clean and comfortable, the receptionist was helpful and nice, and the location beside the Pantheon is excellent.

We found about $500 in cash missing after returning to our room on the third or fourth day. The room had been cleaned and there were extra towels. The money was in two wallets, inside a locked backpack, and it wasn’t left out in plain sight. We had several bags and suitcases in the room, and someone had gone through them looking for cash. We reported it to the police and got a report. When we told the hotel, they said they trusted their staff and asked why we hadn’t used the safe. They wouldn’t do anything to help. That’s how we lost money we’d thought was secure in the room. I don’t trust hotel room safes either, since management can access them. Expect your valuables to be stolen if you stay here. We were there with family for less than a week. The location was fine, but the room was small and the AC barely worked. When we complained, the staff member basically said all hotels in Rome were like that and didn’t help resolve it. Stay here if you want your money stolen.

The building and the people were lovely, and the location was very good. But there were too few cups and pieces of cutlery in the unbelievably tiny kitchen. Some sockets were broken, the shower was cramped and leaked, and there wasn’t enough hot water for everyone. The air conditioning only worked in the afternoons. Such a shame, as the place has a lot of potential.
