Casa Maplink

We found this to be a cheap, good-value way to explore Rome, and we’d love to return. The place is near Termini Station, and buses N.71 or N.492 take you there from the center. We stayed seven days, and the room was clean. Fresh towels were there every day when we got back from walking around. Breakfast for all our days came in a basket on the first day: coffee capsules, croissants, corn flakes, toast, jams, praline, milk, and juice. Outside the room there was also a coffee maker and a water boiler, with plenty of tea flavors, hot chocolate, and water. That was a big help!

We cancelled because we didn’t want to stay at a property where people were rude. I booked using my card, then got a very unprofessional message saying I should cancel because they would contact the embassy and police. They don’t even have a financial department to authorize my card. If they can’t check whether a card is valid, they should remove that option from Booking. Shame on you.

My husband and I stayed for three days, and this was the worst experience of our whole Europe trip. There was no proper hot water, the bathroom leaked, and there was no heater. The cleanliness was poor, and there was nobody at reception to complain to. Even urgent requests weren’t answered promptly. They said breakfast was included, but on the first day they gave us only eight pieces of bread, some chocolate and jam, and coffee packets for the full three days. Saving a little money isn’t worth going there.

A few hours after I cancelled, Casa Maplink tried to charge my card several different amounts. I’d booked through a third-party site with flexible pay at hotel terms, but my travel dates changed and the hotel had no availability for the new dates, so I cancelled days before check-in. Luckily I’d locked my card to prevent fraudulent charges. After several failed attempts to charge it, Casa Maplink sent multiple messages harassing me and threatened to call the police, as if they were entitled to money after I’d cancelled a pay-at-hotel booking in advance. They tried to bully me. Book at your own risk. They’re sleazy, desperate, and pathetic.
