The old cloister near Piazza is stunning, but I felt the exhibition got in the way of appreciating the building. The digital and AI pieces seemed lower quality than the classical art. The first room was the best, and I liked the immersive rooms, the taxidermy room, and the book about insects in Suriname. I could have skipped the rest. It felt like a contrived tourist money-maker, with beautiful, creative displays but a cheap feel, as if the aim was to take as much money as possible. Entry is 19€. You don’t need to book ahead, and there were no lines. Maybe word has spread that it isn’t good value. The 5€ MIC card seems better value. You can buy a ticket at the window, though the woman there seemed unprofessional to me and spent most of the time I saw her talking to her mother on the phone. The two gift shop rooms are enormous and made to look glamorous. Prices are high, though I did spot a couple of interesting trinkets. If you only want to spend time in the café, don’t pay for the exhibition. You have to say so when you enter.

The flower display was so vibrant and cheerful, and the exhibit felt a good size. We also stopped at the small upstairs café afterward for tea and a snack. There’s a nice range of drinks and little food items. A lovely place to spend an hour indoors, I’d recommend it.

When I visited, there was a flower-themed exhibition, and the entry ticket costs 19€. The cafeteria is free to access, and you can take all the “Instagram” photos there without going into the exhibition. If you skip lunch and just see the exhibition, you’ll probably spend about 30-45 minutes there.

The Caffetteria-Bistrot upstairs is a quiet little find, and you can visit it without buying a museum ticket. It sits on the Renaissance loggia, with glass-top tables, fresh flowers, floral curtains between the old stone columns, and lovely changing light from the Roman sky. The exhibition, Flowers. Meravigliosa Natura, is open until September 6, 2026. It brings together 17th-century still lifes, contemporary installations, and digital art inside a Renaissance cloister, and the combination feels both unexpected and coherent. The whole place stopped me in my tracks. It’s just steps from Piazza Navona.

Such a peaceful little break while exploring Roma. The coffee shop is worth visiting by itself, and you can go in even if you skip the exhibit.
