Simone was friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. The front desk isn’t staffed all the time, but he was easy to reach by email, text, or phone. We were very pleased with our four-night stay at Chroma Pente. The room was spacious, clean, and had a modern look. There aren’t traditional hotel amenities like a restaurant or pool, but for me the room is what counts. It’s about 2 km southeast of the Colosseum, so it’s not right by the usual tourist sights. The metro station is close, and there are several bus stops nearby. Chroma Pente is a great value if you’re fine staying outside the heart of the tourist areas, which suited me.

The location is great and the room was clean, but we expected more for the price and you can definitely find somewhere better for the same cost. It feels more like renting a room in an apartment than staying at a hotel. You can hear everything other guests do, including every word on their TV. During our three-night stay, the room was cleaned only once, even though daily cleaning was promised. There’s nowhere to unpack, so our things had to stay on the floor or bed. The bathroom sliding door wouldn’t close all the way and couldn’t be locked. Staff said that was for safety reasons. The Wi-Fi in room 3 was really bad and nearly unusable, though it might be better in other rooms. The corridor bar just has beer and coke, with Nespresso coffee available for some change. A small gap at the top of our door let corridor light in whenever someone came back late. We could hear them walking around and even typing the code at the front door. If you’re booking room number 3, I hope they’ve made changes, because it was almost unbearable. If we’d stayed longer, we would have considered leaving for another hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

It’s reasonably priced for what you get, and the bathroom was one of the best I’ve experienced. The room itself was fine too. Since it’s such a small place, you have to tell reception when you’ll arrive instead of just showing up like at a regular hotel. It can also be a bit tricky to find: you go through a big wooden door with no clear sign that there’s a hotel inside. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.

The large red suite is superb, with a huge room, two TVs, chairs, and a couch. The shower’s multicolor lights are pretty cool too. Chroma Pente is a little away from the main sights, but it’s close to two Metro stations, and the neighborhood restaurants are better value than those in tourist areas. It’s a nice little hotel. Let them know your arrival time ahead of time, and if you come in the evening, you’ll need to be buzzed in.

The only thing I missed was a microwave for leftovers. Otherwise, everything was perfect, and I’d definitely recommend it to couples visiting Rome. The rooms are set up for two, and for more people I’d suggest the suite. It was the best hotel option we could find near the center, about a 20-minute walk from the colosseum and close to lots of markets and restaurants. The rooms were comfortable and modern, the staff friendly, and the location felt private. We also had good wifi, hot water, AC, a comfortable bed, and a fridge in the room.
