Coral Guest House

The location was excellent for seeing Rome, with the Vatican, Castel di San Angelo, and Ottaviano underground station all about a 10-minute walk away. The SIT airport shuttle stop is roughly 8 minutes away, and it goes through the Vatican. We could also leave our luggage until evening. This suited us well as visitors out exploring, rather than spending all day at the hotel. The room wasn’t luxurious, but it had everything we needed, and the small balcony was a bonus for smokers. Staff were very helpful and were waiting for us, so getting the keys was no problem. There’s a small kitchen with a fridge at reception, and only five rooms, with a maximum of about 15 people, I think. One thing to know: there’s no sign on the street door, and the guest house is just one floor in a four- or five-floor building, so you need the exact address. It was a little noisy at night from the other rooms and the street.

The room was fine, though nothing special, and there was too much noise from the other rooms and hallway. Check-in was worse: I waited an hour and a half for someone to arrive, and when a woman from the staff finally showed up, she seemed not to care. The staff were really unfriendly.

The address wasn’t the one we’d booked, so I had to call and wait 45 minutes for someone to bring the key. We’d agreed on 10 Euros for arriving late, but they charged 20 instead. Never again!

The owner was friendly, and the room was cosy and clean. Sint Pietro Place is within walking distance, making this a good spot for a weekend in Rome.
