Hotel Corona

It’s about a 20 min walk to the main attractions and close to the train station. The room and bathroom were very clean, which matters a lot to me when booking, and the bed and mattress were perfect. Staff were friendly and spoke English and french. Breakfast wasn’t amazing, but at 5€ it was totally acceptable. Very nice hotel for the price.

The location was decent, near the metro and around a 20 minute walk, with some hills, to the main sights. Still, I wouldn’t recommend staying here, even if you don’t expect to spend much time in your hotel. Our room was much smaller than the pictures suggested. Staff weren’t especially friendly and were stingy about odd things, including trying to charge us for bringing food into the room, which is absurd. We’d also paid extra to have champagne in the room when we arrived, but instead they had us choose it from a mini fridge. That felt neither nice nor professional.

The rooms seemed clean enough, and the location was quite convenient. Beyond that, there wasn’t much to praise. Our room was tiny, barely allowing two people to move around. The bathroom looked old and had almost no amenities beyond soap in a wall-mounted container. There was only a shower head and so little room that showering without washing your hair would be difficult. The entrance decor was disappointing, with printed, laminated signs covering every wall about things you weren’t allowed to do, like eat in your room or bring bags into certain shared areas. We were charged a “city fee”; it may not have been the hotel’s fault, but we’d have appreciated knowing in advance. Not a terrible stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

I spent 9 days here without any problems and really enjoyed it. The hotel is right beside a continuously running water tap where you can get cool, refreshing water. One of the best.
