We only needed a night after our flight home was unexpectedly canceled, and I was relieved to find a family suite available. The suite was clean, nicely done, and comfortable for all of us, and the hotel’s location was excellent. The issue for me was downstairs, where both the lobby and family suite are. There was a distinct damp, mildew-like odor. I’m sensitive to smells, so I went to a pharmacy for a COVID-style mask and slept wearing it. The rest of my family didn’t seem to notice or mind, but it made me less comfortable. I assume the higher floors don’t have the same problem.

The terrace was a lovely, quiet spot to unwind at the end of the day. My parents and I shared the Junior Suite with Terrace, which was clean and spacious enough for us. Staff were very attentive and curious, and gave us recommendations. The rooftop bar service was a nice extra, and the location made all the sites easy to reach without being too loud. I’d stay here again and recommend it.

The staff were easily the best part, always friendly and helpful. We booked an airport pick-up through the hotel and it went perfectly, too. The hotel itself was a letdown, though. We booked after our previous hotel fell through and relied heavily on the reviews, so we were surprised by how different our stay felt from what others described. Our room was dark and hot, the bathroom had damp and mildew problems, and several light switches didn’t work. The private terrace had no view and smelled odd, while the rooftop terrace wasn’t open. If we hadn’t risked losing so much money by switching at the last minute, or if we’d been staying longer, we would have moved. The narrow streets mean cars can’t get right to the hotel, so our first drop-off was quite far away. Our airport driver came from another direction, got us closer, and helped with the luggage, but we still had to walk some distance. Keep that in mind. The location is good, and some basic work on the doors, hardware, and paint would help. The black paint isn’t helping. This could suit someone with modest expectations, but the price is similar to much nicer hotels in Rome, so a higher standard is reasonable to expect. I hope they make upgrades or lower the prices to match a value hotel.

We had to leave urgently because of a medical situation. He confirmed he couldn’t help, charged only the city tax, and asked us to email a request for a refund for the nights we wouldn’t use. The hotel then refused to refund even the two unused nights, with no understanding or empathy. We got cold, dismissive replies and excuses about “protocols” that had never been mentioned during our stay. It’s deeply disappointing to see money put ahead of basic decency. If compassion, transparency, and professionalism matter to you, look elsewhere. I strongly advise future guests to avoid this hotel.
