Hotel d'Este

The Colosseum and Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore are just steps away, and the location is fantastic. The reception is open around the clock, and the staff are excellent, always friendly and ready to help with anything. The hotel has everything you need. I especially enjoyed breakfast and the really good coffee. Thanks to Ginni, Fiorino and the other staff member whose name I can't remember right now 😆

The staff were warm, polite and very helpful. Once they learned our original room had allergens, they promptly arranged another room, and we really appreciate their kindness and responsiveness. The room issues still made for a disappointing stay at nearly €200 a night for a three-star hotel. There was only a very thin blanket, and with nighttime temperatures in the low teens, we were freezing. The soundproofing was poor enough that we could clearly hear the woman next door coughing. Bathroom ventilation was inadequate, and water kept dripping from outside the water heater onto the toilet lid.

For the price, we're very happy with our stay and would gladly return. The location is excellent for exploring the city, and breakfast always had something for everyone. Our triple room had a private bathroom, was clean and tidy, and was serviced daily. The staff were friendly too. We'd read the reviews and weren't sure what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised. I get the impression some negative reviewers expect all-inclusive treatment when booking at this price. We highly recommend it, and our stay will be memorable.

The staff were welcoming, respectful and helpful, and it was great value for money. St. Mary Major Basilica is nearby, Termini station is a seven-minute walk away, and there are supermarkets, restaurants, trattorias and gift shops close by. You can walk to most of the famous sights, including the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Spanish Steps. Metro A, the orange line, is on the same street. I'd definitely recommend it. Ciao!
