DC Collection Spagna

We stayed six nights in the family suite and loved the shower area. The location was perfect, close to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and shopping, with loads of food options around. The front desk responded quickly and was very accommodating. Our room was cleaned, all our needs were taken care of, and we'd love to stay here again.

Marco made us feel welcome right from the start, with thoughtful arrangements before we arrived and genuine attention throughout our stay. DC Collection Spagna was spotless, with a well-kept room and modern, convenient facilities. The neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly, with charming little streets, cafes, and shops. It's right in the city center, about a 5-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and 7 minutes to the Pantheon. I had a wonderful two-night stay and would happily return. A central, clean, welcoming place in Rome, and one I'd recommend.

The rooms were clean and the location was convenient, but our experience with DC Collections Spagna left us upset and embarrassed. We booked through Expedia and expected to pay €140 in city tax, but when Marco, the manager, greeted us, he requested €210 in cash only. At the time we didn't realize this was a side hustle of Marco's. We also found the beds too hard to sleep well on. When we asked if we could buy a mattress pad ourselves and leave it for future guests, Marco stopped responding altogether. Marco had offered to refund our stay if we found somewhere else, which was a key reason we decided to leave after two nights of a 15-night booking. At checkout he gave us no receipt confirming we had left. He refused to return the tax money, saying it had already been sent to the government. Our new hotel told us he'd overcharged us on tax and should have reimbursed us, since taxes are paid every three months. Expedia said to wait 72 hours while they contacted the property, but after three days they told us they couldn't reach Marco. He kept dodging their calls for two weeks. Marco hadn't told Expedia that we'd left or that he'd authorized a refund for 13 nights. When Expedia later contacted us, they said Marco claimed he'd only promised to refund the taxes we'd overpaid. We had already confronted him and demanded those taxes back, but he refunded nothing. We were scammed out of almost €4000 and had to deal with it throughout our vacation, and we're still dealing with it. Even though we sent Expedia documentation of everything, they said they had to side with the property because they weren't involved. Rome gave us wonderful memories, but DC Collections was a bitter one.

The location was just right, and we’d happily come back. Marco, the manager, was really helpful too. He got in touch the day before we arrived and sent over all the information we needed.
