Design 18 Charming Rooms

We had a bit of trouble getting into the room, but once inside, the two spacious rooms and their AC units were such a relief after walking 10 miles through Rome's sights and streets. The cleaning staff were so kind. They folded the sleep clothes we'd left on the beds and set them on the right sides, then tucked in my son's treasured stuffed animals. They were waiting for him when we got back, and that won both our hearts. There was delicious bread and espresso in the shared area each morning. The other guests were polite and respectful, and we were the same with them. It was our first time in Rome, and we loved it.

If you want a hotel-style stay, this probably isn't the place. It's a guesthouse in one unit of a building, laid out like an apartment with around five rooms for different guests. The decor is nice, and the windows look out onto the street, though you may hear doors opening and closing or people chatting in the hallway. Staff were attentive and helpful, including when they handled the arrangements for us to extend our stay. The location was good, within walking distance of most major tourist spots. It's an affordable guesthouse in a relatively peaceful part of Rome.

The location sold me. Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, and the Colosseum are about a 15-20 minute walk away, with cafes and a pharmacy around the corner. We never needed the train. Gulia was organized, quick to respond, and so kind. She let us drop our bags at 9:30am so we could go out before check-in, and we were able to check in early too. The AC wasn't working, but Gulia fixed it within a couple of hours after I let her know. The room was clean and organized, with a kettle, mugs, and tea, and there was coffee in the main area. The bathroom had everything I needed. It was external, right across from the room, as Gulia had told me when I booked. At night the doors creaked loudly and the automatic hallway light came on, so I worried I was waking everyone, though I feel like most places are noisy like that. The nights themselves were quiet and I slept great. Great vibes, would recommend! :)

The owner was friendly and got back to our messages right away. The rooms were beautiful, quiet, and newly renovated, and the location was very good, with Rome's must-see sights about a 15-20 minute walk away. I definitely recommend it.
