Hotel Diocleziano

I can’t understand the high ratings. For me, this was a two-star stay at best. The bathroom was very cramped, but the main problem was the climate control. The air conditioning is centralized and set to constant heat, with no way to adjust it in the room. When we tried to cool things down, it just blew more hot air. The staff did try to help, but eventually said there was nothing they could do because the system is centralized. Management also refused to move us to another room or let us cancel. We left extremely frustrated and won’t be coming back.

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast was very basic, but fine for a short visit. The hotel is generally okay, though light sleepers should come prepared with earplugs. The central air system makes a constant noise of about 42 dB. Even with the room’s air conditioning switched off, you can hear the main system and drainage from rooms above, which can disrupt sleep. The windows are thin too, so outside sounds come through clearly. It may suit people who sleep soundly or are staying briefly. If you’re hoping for quiet and uninterrupted sleep, expect noise or consider staying somewhere else.

The hotel is perfectly placed for sightseeing, and the rooms were cleaned thoroughly every day. The service was wonderful, with a very friendly team. A special thank you to Davide from the bar and restaurant, he was so warm and courteous. Un grande ringraziamento a Davide. Hope we meet again.

The location was convenient, the facilities clean and breakfast enjoyable, especially the coffee. But what stood out most at Hotel Diocleziano was how the staff treated us. Everyone was attentive, polite and kind, and the service felt better than I’d normally expect for the hotel’s rating. I’ve stayed in plenty of places with nice facilities, but it’s unusual to find staff who leave such a good impression. I’d happily choose this hotel again on another trip to Rome.
