Domus Pietro Inn

The location is convenient for public transport into the city center, and the Vatican is within walking distance. Beyond that, I can’t recommend the place. I paid 400€ for three nights and was disappointed by the room: the floors were dusty and dirty, the bed frame seemed close to breaking, and the bathroom siphon was clogged. I also suspect there were bedbugs on the sheets, since I felt itchy each night and woke up with bumps that looked like bites. I kept quiet because I wanted to enjoy my vacation without drama, but then a key broke inside my purse and they charged me another 10€ for one key. I’d be embarrassed to charge that for an old, broken key after the room had fallen short of basic expectations. Finding the hotel was a struggle. There was no sign, so I had to ask a waitress at a nearby restaurant; she helped me and said hotel guests kept asking her where it was. After I rang the bell, the outside door somehow opened, but two more doors remained between me and the hotel. I called twice before anyone answered, then waited 15 minutes for staff to open the other doors and hand over the keys. The rooms are on the fifth floor of an old building with an old elevator. I was genuinely afraid whenever I rode it, and it smelled very bad. I wouldn’t recommend Domus Pietro Inn to anyone visiting Rome.

What a nightmare of a stay. The building is run-down, the window was broken, the air conditioning barely worked, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly. The door handle had a loose screw too. Getting to the room meant using four physical keys, and two of the doors sometimes needed a hard shove. There’s no front desk available around the clock. Stay at your own risk, or maybe treat it as a challenge.

Our reservation was canceled just three days before we were due to arrive, and they gave no reason. We had to find another hotel at the last minute, with all the stress and extra cost that came with it. Avoid this place.

Even one star feels generous.
