Domus Santa Caterina

One of the best places we've stayed in Europe. The room and toilet were clean, the host and staff were warm, and it's really easy to get to the things tourists need.

I've stayed here twice, once in November and again in January. The place is very clean, and the room and neighborhood are nice. The price was great, especially during the Jubilee, though I found it a little too cold on the November visit.

Manzoni Metro station is only a three-minute walk away, and from there it's two minutes to Termini. The Vatican, Colosseum, and other metro destinations are reachable in 15 minutes. The neighborhood is fairly calm for the city and has a few supermarkets nearby. Guests were generally friendly and considerate. The rooms are good value for the price, with a bed, bathroom, wardrobe, AC, fridge, and hairdryer. A few things could use repairs, but nothing was a problem. There's a minor faucet issue that can splash you, though turning the water pressure down solves it. The shared area has a simple kitchen and laundry machine. Housekeeping comes occasionally, and the rooms look clean. You can hear people talking in the hallway and, now and then, someone flushing or showering. Those noises are usually brief and not too disturbing, especially if you're out all day. I'd definitely recommend the place for its value.

The room was clean, with a working fridge and bathroom, and the location was great. But sleeping here was impossible. You could hear everything from the corridor, bathrooms, and common area through gaps around the doors. Other guests ignored quiet hours and were still talking, slamming doors, and washing at 3 am. The owner did nothing to stop it or reprimand anyone.
