Domus Tiberina

We were in a quadruple room. There was no emergency lighting or fire smoke alarm, and the extinguisher was outside the door, no help if there were a fire inside the room. Nothing would wake you up to get out if there was smoke. The pillows were filthy and disgusting, the mattresses poor, and the sheets poor too. The room was split, and the two beds in one section felt like a prison. It was freezing on that side even with the heat on, so we slept in coats and jumpers. The corridors to the room were dark, and the light only stayed on for seconds. The coffee machine had no cups. I wouldn't call this a hotel, more like a room down a side alley. The main entrance shown wasn't where we were put. I have no reason to leave a poor review except to let people know this is a dangerous, poor 'hotel', quite different from the pictures I booked from.

There are many other places to stay around here, and I'd recommend staying away from this one!!! Getting your luggage up the long, narrow stairs is only the first problem, since there's another flight to reach the room. The hotel smelled of mold and the room needed more cleaning. Every shower flooded the bathroom, and the coffee machine was so dirty it was impossible to use. The staff were rude and there was no communication. The doors use a code, and I'm not sure they change it for every guest. Someone opened our bags one day after we arrived. Anyone can type the code and enter the property, and our code was 3559#. There's also a guy at the front desk some mornings who doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

We picked a "mansarda" with a terrace, and waking up to the church bell was a pleasure. If you don't like any noise, the plastic doors let you keep it out. The square had such a 100% italian atmosphere. I don't get why people complain about the stairs. The description says it's an ex monastery, so why expect big spaces and elevators?

The managers made this our worst experience ever. They clearly didn't understand that customers expect hospitality rather than hostility. The historic center is easy to explore on foot from this perfect location, and the building is charming and clean. But the double rooms are simply shamefully small for a romantic stay as a couple, and the bathroom was super tiny.
