Flower Garden Hotel Rome

The reception team were friendly and welcoming throughout, and leaving the room key at reception whenever we went out turned out to be convenient. We didn't have to worry about losing it. We were also happy with the fair price and the central location, a little away from the most touristy spots but still in the busy city centre. Termini is about a five-minute walk, Repubblica is close too, and there are lots of restaurants, pubs and shops nearby. We mostly walked or used the metro. We avoided buses because they seemed stuck in the city's heavy daytime traffic. Our Superior Room was spacious and had what we needed. The TV had a good selection of local channels and radio, which we listened to in the room. Breakfast was delicious, though the abundance of sweet pastries and lack of vegetables or hot food felt monotonous to us Northern Europeans. That seemed like a cultural difference. We'd read that rooms weren't very soundproof. We only noticed noise in the hall during the morning, though light sleepers may have trouble. In March, the bathroom and floor felt cold, as there was no air conditioning or heating in there. The window was tucked behind a corner, leaving much of the room dark, with little natural light most of the time. These were small drawbacks and didn't really affect our stay. I'd recommend the hotel for its good price and location.

The staff were so kind and friendly, and the hotel is close to both the metro and railway station as well as the main attractions. It's in Termini, but I didn't find the area scary, unfriendly or unsafe as some descriptions suggest. For the price and location, the place was in good condition, though don't expect a five-star hotel. The room was a little old or not well maintained. There were stains around the bathroom sink, and the shower head wouldn't stay up. It kept falling, so at one point the wall was getting the shower instead of me. It didn't bother us much during our two-night stay, and my boyfriend didn't complain. It was a bit noisy inside and out, which could be disturbing, but it shouldn't affect sleep unless you wake at every little sound.

The breakfast server and the cleaner were good, and the location is handy for the train station and tourist sights. Still, the crew's service was poor overall. The Italian guy on the night shift was especially unhelpful. The bathroom door had jammed shut, and when I explained, he treated me like an idiot and did nothing. I nearly broke the door trying to open it. The room wasn't worth the price: noise came from both the street and other rooms, the bathroom was small with no ventilation, the bed was uncomfortable (I'd rather sleep on the floor), the freezer was broken, and the air conditioning didn't work. It felt like sleeping in a sauna. They should replace the key system with cards. It's an option if you won't spend much time in Rome, but for a longer stay and lots of walking around the city, I'd choose somewhere else. I plan to stay elsewhere next time. Thanks, arrivederci.

The room faced the street, and noise and activity carried on late into the night. We could hear people talking and music, as well as conversations through the thin walls from neighboring rooms. We stayed five nights, and the poor sound insulation made it hard to rest. There was no air conditioning unit. Even in winter the room felt warm, but opening the windows for fresh air wasn't really an option because of the noise. Being near Termini Station is convenient, especially for trips to other Italian cities, but our stay was disappointing. There seemed to be extra charges for several small things. Be wary of Fernadino's overacting when offering supposedly better customer assistance. We were advised to leave our key behind because someone would always be at the desk, but very early in the morning there might be nobody available. I wouldn't stay here again.
