The metro was close, and the area was quiet and convenient. That was the only good part of our three-night stay in Rome. The room’s Wi-Fi never worked, and we barely had cell service either. The bathroom was filthy, with grime and dirt in the shower, sink, and toilet. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We had a great 10-day stay in Rome. The place has a nice feel, and the weekly cleaning was just right. Having laundry on site was a big help, and the shared kitchen was great. There’s a metro nearby, and bus 87 is even closer and goes right into the city center.

I’ve stayed in student housing before, and after knowing this place through my boyfriend’s six-month stay, I can say I’ve never seen somewhere managed this badly. Mistakes happen anywhere, but this feels like a pattern, not the occasional mix-up. I came once when he first moved to Rome to help him settle in. He has also written a review about his longer experience here. My room had a tiny window and no sunlight. I could barely stand it for a few days, so I can’t imagine living there long term. The food on the rooftop was expensive and bad, and the service was poor too. My own trouble started with the rules for my visit. I was told I could stay up to six days, with four nights charged at €50 per night plus city tax. I changed my flight, paid in full, and followed what they told me. After five nights, at 11 PM, someone banged on our door and said I had to leave immediately. I showed the receipt, but the receptionist argued and didn’t believe me. The next morning, they asked me to pay again. The way they spoke to me was disrespectful, and their difficulty with basic English and counting the days was alarming for reception staff. Over the months, my boyfriend has run into more problems that seem to fit the same pattern: too much control, unfriendly treatment, poor communication, and being made to justify yourself like a child while paying a lot for the service. I stayed away for months because I didn’t want to deal with this place again. It’s stressful and frustrating, especially when no one listens to concerns. What disappoints me most is how little understanding there seems to be of hospitality, quality, and respect. In a city like Rome, I expected better. If you’re running a business for international students, you should understand how to communicate and what people need when moving abroad. A bed and key card aren’t enough. If you charge high prices, you should make a fair effort to earn them. I’d tell anyone thinking of staying here to steer clear, especially if their mental well-being matters to them.

After six months at Dotcampus, I can’t recommend it to anyone looking for a student home in Rome. I waited to write this so I could judge the place fairly, and the problems have kept happening. As an international student with a year-long contract and experience in student hotels across Europe, I expected a basic standard of care. This has fallen short throughout. Even before moving in, there was a problem: my contract began in October and was paid for, but when I arrived in November I was told there was no room. I spent a month in temporary accommodation, then was put in a room adapted for disability that had no shower cabin or curtain. After a long effort to get the room I’d paid for, I was moved to my current room. It’s a corner room with no natural light, despite costing more than most local accommodation. I still wonder why this room wasn’t offered at the start. The rules and the way staff enforce them make the place feel constantly policed. The rooms have no kitchens, and the shared kitchen is locked after 11 PM. You can’t have friends over to hang out after that time either. When I got back from a short trip and asked to skip the “mandatory” weekly cleaning, I was questioned about where I’d been. The cleaning often leaves dust and hair behind, but staff said illness was the only reason to miss it and that they would enter my room to check if I was really sick. Being told I’d been “spotted on camera” with a guest felt invasive and obsessive, not like ordinary security. When my girlfriend came to help me move in, staff said a “new” guest rule had started “just yesterday” and demanded half the room price for her stay. At 11:00 PM they knocked aggressively on my door and insisted she leave at once. We showed the receipt for what we’d already paid, but they were hostile and asked for more money the next morning. Staff also struggled with basic English, counting, and professional manners. Residents lose access to common areas when staff decide to hold “meetings.” When I raise a real concern, staff talk over me, don’t listen, and show no empathy. I’ve tried to stay calm and adapt for half a year, but the lack of basic dignity is too much. Dotcampus has made my time in Rome miserable. I’ve felt treated like a suspect under constant watch, not a resident. Stay away.

The location works well for getting around, just a five-minute walk from San Giovanni, and I’ve been very happy living at Dot Campus Roma. The staff are welcoming and helpful, and they often put on free activities where students can meet and spend time together. It feels well managed and comfortable. There’s plenty of room to study, with study rooms on three floors, plus personal desks in the shared areas. The apartment even has a TV, which I haven’t seen in many student places in Rome. Laundry is convenient, and the water dispenser means I can refill my bottle instead of buying water all the time. The kitchen is set up thoughtfully, with individual lockers and separate fridge compartments for everyone. I also like the free gym and the rooftop bar, which has a lovely sunset view. There’s a café on site too, though you have to pay for it. It has what a student needs to feel at home.
