Friendship Palace

The staff were kind at check-in and check-out, and let me leave my luggage for free when I arrived early. The location is a minute from the huge train station, which is how I got there. That’s the only reason I rated it as highly as I did. The pull-out couch sloped toward the middle, and the so-called comforter was an old curtain. I found a bug in the bed that looked like a bed bug after I checked online. I tried to dismiss it, but other reviews described similar things, so it had to have been one. The shower barely trickled, and the water was freezing. It was affordable, but people should know what they’re getting into. I’ve never usually left a review below four stars, but don’t stay here.

This review is about Beautiful hostel on the first floor. For three days there was no hot water. We complained around four times. The last time, they told us to wait 30 minutes, and we did that three times, but still got no hot water. The reception guy was rude and acted like he was making fun of us. We also had no phone signal or WiFi except in the lobby. I was told I was the only person complaining. We asked for our money back for today and tomorrow, but they wouldn’t refund today because we’d missed checkout time, even though we’d waited over two hours for hot water. I argued with the audacious guy, and eventually he refunded today. I don’t recommend this place.

The rooms are basic but functional, cleaned every day, and the beds were comfortable. I slept really well. It’s just two seconds from the main train station, and a 20-minute walk gets you to the Colosseum or the park. Some reviews are bad, so I wanted to add my view. For the price, this is a great hostel with easy access to Rome and beyond. Just don’t expect a night in a Venetian palace.

I paid €95 for one night, and it wasn’t worth it. The place was dirty, neglected, and really disgusting, the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. No towel was provided, the WiFi was extremely weak, and checkout is at 10 a.m. Don’t come unless you’re really desperate.
