Friendship Place

The location is the one real plus, since it’s convenient and makes getting around the city easy. The reception was hard to find and oddly located in another building; when I arrived, I already had a bad feeling. The reception area looked tired and uninviting. The common areas were dirty, and the room was no better. It was clear that cleanliness wasn’t a priority, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been properly cleaned in a while.

The location was really convenient, near the main train station and good restaurants. The room was big enough and the place was quiet, but we had two awful nights of sleep because of the problems in the room. We paid for a double bed, but the beds were separate with a gap between them. The shower drain was clogged, so water wouldn’t go down and we had to keep turning the shower off to stop the bathroom from flooding. It felt unhygienic. The toilet seat was broken, and so was the shower holder, so I had to hold the showerhead while bathing. The pillows were extremely dirty. Clean pillows are the hotel’s responsibility, and mine triggered an allergic reaction on the first night because I have rhinitis.

Avoid this place. During my three-night stay, they never cleaned the room. The shower sink was clogged, leaving dirty water on the floor all the time, and the service was poor. The name listed on Google and Booking didn’t match the name on the hotel or receipts. They seem not to care about their reputation and just change the name. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in.

The hotel’s best feature is how close it is to the station. Breakfast at the café across the street was lovely, and the room was okay, nothing special but not terrible. The neighborhood felt really dodgy, with hundreds of alcohol bottles and used condoms dumped on the street. The bathroom needed a thorough cleaning, and the showerhead sprayed everywhere except at you. The staff weren’t very friendly either. My sister and I got trapped in the hallway when the door jammed; we called them several times before they fixed it and let us out, which delayed our departure.
