Gianicolo House

We were made to feel like close friends by the hosts, who are incredibly lovely. The rooftop terrace quickly became our favorite spot for breakfast and dinner, with a view we fell in love with. The apartment itself is cozy and has everything you need. It’s in a peaceful area with the everyday essentials nearby, and tram and bus stops make it easy to get into the center. We’d be happy to stay here again on our next visit to Rome.

The terrace view over the rooftops toward the distant dome of St Peter was a highlight. The tram stop is about a 10-minute walk away, and from there you can ride straight to Piazza Venezia, with several major sights within walking distance. The apartment was comfortable and tidy, with what we needed to unwind after sightseeing. The owner was friendly and helpful, and greeted us with wine, fruit, some breakfast basics, and tips on nearby places to eat and visit. It’s best for two, though the fold-out bed means it can sleep four. We were two adults and a teenager, and it felt a little crowded at times. Still, we had a great stay and hope to return someday.

The neighborhood is green and quiet, with a tram into the center, a bus to the Vatican, and a lovely colorful local market about 15 minutes away on foot. After a full day of sightseeing, this was a wonderful place to come back to. The rooftop setup is the star, with a 360-degree view, awnings, umbrellas, and sun loungers. When the weather cooperates, you can even sleep outside under the stars. Romantic, and where else but Rome? The little house, more than just a room, had everything we could need, even shaving foam and a bag of flour. Micaela è brava, e ancora volta brava! Due mille grazie!!!

We’ve been staying with Micaela for three years, and whenever we come to Rome, she’s our go-to place. It feels like home each time.
