Hotel Giotto Flavia

The photos here don't look much like the room we had, though I don't have pictures of it. The room was fine. It was spacious and very clean, but the decor seemed a bit dated next to some of the rooms we'd seen online. Still, it did the job. Each day we came back, our bed had somehow gained a headboard and a curtain along the bottom! It was funny that nobody warned us or mentioned the maintenance, but the additions were genuinely nice. The bed was made and the towels changed every day. The mini fridge kept water cold, though it wasn't clear you had to pay for anything inside since there were no prices. The bathroom was lovely, modern, and clean, with vanity kits and plenty of room for belongings, though counter space was limited. We arrived at 12, even though check-in was meant to start at 2, and our room was ready, so we could unpack and plan what to do. The concierge gave helpful directions and a few restaurant suggestions. Breakfast was okay and did the job, but the choice was limited: ham and cheese with rolls, yogurt, pastries, and cereal. The fruit ran out quickly and wasn't replenished, while the other things were topped up regularly. Bread and a toaster would've been nice. There was packaged biscuit bread, but I didn't try it. The location worked well for us. Two metro stations, including Termini, are about 15 minutes away. We didn't try the buses, so I can't comment on them. The walk to and from the centre was hilly but doable, and there are good restaurants nearby if you check the reviews. The WiFi was pretty rubbish, but just about usable. For a 2* hotel, it did more than we expected, and we'd stay again. One last thing, always take the stairs. The building's lift is terrifying.

We found some cafes and restaurants nearby that seemed more authentic and aimed at locals, and there were a couple of grocery stores too. Getting to the main attractions meant a roughly 30-minute walk each way every day, though we tried public transit downtown on our last day and it worked well if you'd rather save your energy for sightseeing. We spent four nights here in Rome and had a pleasant stay. It's not fancy, but it was comfortable and had what we needed. The hotel is on an upper floor, and the small elevator could mean a long wait at busy times.

We stayed four nights at this great-value budget hotel. Termini is only about a 10-minute walk away, and the air conditioning was amazing in temperatures above 35 Celsius. The only downside was that the shower wasn't the best.

The rooms are small, but for a fair price we had everything we needed, especially since we only used ours for sleeping. Everything was clean, and the reception team were consistently friendly and helpful. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from Termini, with a supermarket around the corner and good restaurants on the same street.
