Habitat Monti Rooms

We were both really pleased with the service at Habitat Monti. My fiancé and I were starting a multi-city business trip here, but had to leave the hotel we'd booked because it was poor quality. We were lucky to get a room after a cancellation, and the staff let us leave our luggage that morning so we could explore without carrying it around. At check-in, the desk staff signed us in, gave us a map, and suggested sights and ways to reach them. Security felt excellent: we needed a key for the building, our floor, and our room. Our room was small but cozy, stocked with water, snacks, coffee, and tea. We were out exploring most of the time, and the popular attractions were about a 10-15 minute walk away. On checkout day, they kindly gave us a later time to fit our travel plans and helped call a taxi. What could have been an awful stay turned around into a very good one.

The bathroom had a huge shower with great pressure, and the air-conditioning actually worked. My room was small, but comfortable and just right for one person. Such a great boutique hotel, and I really can't recommend it enough. The location is great too.

The room was very clean and mostly new, with a coffee machine, tea kettle, and fridge. I would've liked a shelf under the sink for my things, but I'd definitely stay here again if I'm back in Rome. It's in Monti, a good central neighborhood, about a 10-minute walk from Termini and 15 minutes from the Colosseum, with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The hotel feels more like apartments, and there isn't a front desk on site yet, but they explain how to get in through messages. Breakfast is available as a voucher for a nearby restaurant. Both the hotel and restaurant staff were very friendly.

We cancelled after a frustrating and unprofessional booking experience. A good offer appeared on Booking.com, but after we bought it, the hotel asked us to cancel, saying they'd made a mistake and the room wasn't available. We contacted Booking.com, who reached out to the hotel several times. At first the hotel confirmed the mistake, then changed its mind and told Booking.com there was a room for us after all. When we contacted the hotel directly, they said they couldn't guarantee the room and told us to cancel. So we cancelled through Booking. Within an hour, the same room for the same dates was listed again, but for €200 more. I was surprised by this after reading the reviews.
