The room was clean and deserves five stars. The man at reception was really nice 👍

The one good thing is the location: it's near the train station and has good connections to the center. Otherwise, this felt more like a room with beds than a proper hostel. It was missing services I'd expect, including towels and a drawer that could be locked. At least there was a bed, but on my last night I found someone else sleeping in it. You can't flush toilet paper, and the only bedding was a stained bed cover with holes in it, instead of a blanket.

Our booking was canceled just before we arrived, with the hostel saying my card was “invalid.” That wasn't true: the prepayment had already come off my card, and the balance was meant to be paid when we arrived. They told me to “just book again,” but the new price was three times what we'd originally booked for. They were unbelievably rude. Luckily, we found a very nice guesthouse and even got a better deal. I'd advise against booking here unless you're willing to risk being left without a place to sleep or pressured into paying three times the price.

The staff, especially Milo, were really friendly and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. Everything worked fine, and we saw the place being cleaned thoroughly every day. The blankets seemed like they might not be washable, which was a small concern. After our first night sleeping without them, the staff member asked if we'd like different ones, without us bringing it up, and we got normal blankets. We were a little nervous because of the reviews, but this was the cheapest option for us in Rome and the location is fantastic. At first, the older-looking place gave us a strange impression and we thought maybe the reviews were right, but it turned out much better than expected. Don't expect a fancy hotel, but if you're looking for an affordable place to sleep in Rome, I'd say go for it. :)
