Hotel Capannelle

The only small downside for me was the firm beds, though that's just personal preference. Everything else made this a great stay. We got a spacious, clean suite after the receptionist kindly upgraded us, and breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The hotel also has a very good restaurant, and the reception staff recommended several other dinner spots. The area is quiet, with a bus stop close by. After a disappointing experience in the city center, we were really glad we checked in here. Thanks for such a lovely stay, from both me and my fiancée. We're planning to return to Rome next year and will definitely stay here again.

The restaurant menu was small, and for all four days we were there, some dishes, including vegetables, weren't available. The meals we could order were just okay. At breakfast, the hot options were poor for vegetarians, with only scrambled eggs, and the fresh fruit was tinned pears and some melon. There were plenty of sweet cakes and pastries, though. The first room we were given had an unusable, broken mattress. Staff moved us without trouble and were courteous, but both mattresses in the new room were usable rather than comfortable, and the decor looked tired. Reception controlled the air conditioning, which wasn't very comfortable. The huge window couldn't be secured open, so it banged in the wind at night. The shower was awful, the drainage smelled, the fridge was filthy, and there were no tea or coffee facilities. After staying here, we moved to a 2* B and B that was far more comfortable and much better. Definitely not 4*.

The staff were fantastic, and parking was free for those driving. Rooms on the upper floors are spacious and open, with beautiful views. They're a little dated, but still up to a good standard. The location is lovely, a bit out of the way, though buses, trains, and the metro are easy to reach. The one issue was staff sometimes forgetting to replace basics like toilet roll or put things back where I'd left them.

The nicest parts of our short stay were the front desk lady, the tiramisu, and the server on the night of 31.9. He was really attentive and friendly, even though the restaurant was packed and he was literally sprinting around, clearly stressed. Grazie. We'd been sent here for an overnight stay after missing our connecting flight. The room didn't feel very clean, the mattress was uncomfortable, the fleece blankets were wrapped in sheets instead of having a proper duvet cover, and the fridge wasn't working properly. The restaurant burger was just okay, but the pasta seemed good. Since we had to leave early the next day, they packed us breakfast with a little dry bread, cutlery, some cookies, juice, and jam. The location seemed a bit far from the city center, though that wasn't our focus.
