Hotel Central Lodge

The staff were superb, and the whole hotel was exceptionally clean. Our room was cleaned every day, too. It’s around a 15-minute walk to the colosseum and 10 minutes from the train station. You can refill your water for free, and breakfast is available to buy whenever you need it. The doors lock at 11pm, but guests can get in with a key code. I’d definitely stay again and recommend it.

The room setup was a problem from the start. I’d booked a triple room with one king bed and one single, but found three small single beds instead. Reception said the reservation appeared as three singles in their system, first blaming the Expedia connection even though I’d booked through Booking.com. They said they couldn’t sort it out that day and would deal with it the next morning. The next day, they repeated that the booking was for three singles and offered only to push them together with a sheet. I reluctantly agreed, but nothing had been done when I returned. Another staff member then said the manager had told them not to change anything, despite my showing them the Booking.com confirmation. They even suggested I was lying. No apology or attempt to resolve it, just a dismissive, unhelpful attitude. The bed issue might seem minor for a short stay, but the way I was treated made the experience really unpleasant. A few other things to know: the room A/C is fixed at 22°C, and reception can adjust it only once if you call. There’s no kettle or glasses in the room, and only a thin duvet. The hotel has no elevator. Reception is up about 15-20 stairs, and rooms are on the first and second floors.

The hotel had a peaceful feel, and our room was spotless, comfortable, and well equipped. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome and put real care into making our stay a good one. Their service and attention to detail stood out throughout. We had a fantastic time at Central Lodge Hotel and would happily return. It’s a great choice if you’re after comfort, friendly hospitality, and a quiet atmosphere.

We spent four nights here and really appreciated how hospitable everyone was. The first few hours after arriving in Italy had been a bit rough while we tried to get help, but once we reached the hotel, Ricardo showed us somewhere to sit, offered water, and let us leave our luggage. The room was clean and comfortable. When we were leaving, Ricardo even came out from behind the counter to say goodbye. It was a lovely stay, and we’d likely book here again if we return to Rome.
