Villa Riari

We found this little hotel good value for the price. Breakfast is included, there's a small rooftop, and the garden is delightful. The street is quiet and tucked away. Rooms feel a little old-fashioned and don't block much sound, but they're clean, air conditioned, and functional.

The garden is a lovely little oasis, perfect for taking your time over morning coffee, a sandwich, or something sweet. I could happily read, write, rest, or just enjoy the moment there. It's a beautiful, peaceful place in Trastevere, with a wonderful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Grazie mille ❤️

We arrived exhausted after a long trip for my mother's birthday, and the room had ants in it. We reported them right away and asked for a clean room, but instead were told to leave while chemicals were used to treat the ants. We weren't comfortable going back into a room just after that treatment, and they said there was no other room available that night. The bathroom also hadn't been cleaned properly, and soon the sink was completely blocked and unusable. The room clearly wasn't in acceptable condition, but beyond repeated apologies they offered no real solution. We were left to choose between staying in an unhygienic, uncomfortable room or finding another hotel ourselves late at night after an exhausting journey. The property didn't meaningfully take responsibility or try to make things easier. After a long discussion they agreed to cancel the reservation, but first tried to give only a partial refund with deductions. When I refused deductions for a room in that condition, I was accused of “trying to stay for free” and threatened with the police. The lack of professionalism, accountability, and empathy was the most disappointing part, along with the room itself. We'd picked Villa RIARI because of its high rating, which made the experience even more surprising and disappointing.

The street is peaceful and quiet, while Trastevere's restaurants and bars are only a five-minute walk away. Most sights are also within walking distance. The hotel was impeccably clean, with free coffee and snacks, and the staff were friendly and professional. We booked at the last minute but got a very reasonable price and great value for money. I highly recommend it.
