The location is great and the service was friendly, but the Wi-Fi stopped working after the first night and the staff couldn’t or wouldn’t get it back up. The air conditioning was just about useful. The shower was tricky until we figured it out, then it was great. I’d say go for a short stay.

A few minutes’ walk from the Coliseum and its metro station, the location is perfect. We chose this place four months ahead because it was one of the best priced options near the old city, and the stay met our expectations: light breakfast, good Wi-Fi, a clean room, air conditioning that mattered in the summer, and polite staff. There’s a small guest lounge, with a staff member around from breakfast until evening. It’s a ten-room hotel on the second and third floors of a larger building, so it doesn’t have the feel of a usual hotel with reception open 24/7. The entrance can be hard to spot the first time. Ring the bell on the right side of the doors, and staff will welcome you on the second floor.

The rooms were comfortable and all the staff we saw gave excellent service. It’s a great base for visiting the Forum and Colosseum. Getting into the hotel was a bit awkward, though I believe many central hotels are like that.

For a birthday weekend with my wife and four-year-old, I booked Foro Romano. The hotel offered an airport transfer, and after I sent our flight number, confirmed a taxi with a child seat would be waiting. We arrived around midnight. The driver met us and took us across the airport to the parking lot, then said he hadn’t brought the child seat and suggested we go without it. That’s illegal in Italy and would put my child’s life at risk. When I contacted the hotel, they said, “Your cheap flight arrived with a delay.” Their response left me to deal with the closed public transit and no booster seat, after I’d trusted their transfer promise. At 1 am, we had to walk with our child and bags to the nearest hotel and pay 300€ for one night. Foro Romano then charged me for the full two nights, even though I never set foot in the place.
