Hotel Les Chambres D'Or

I didn’t run into any street noise or construction during my stay, despite seeing earlier comments about both. Everything was comfortable and smoothly managed, and I appreciated the personal attention and professionalism. Roberto welcomed me when I arrived, and Antonella made sure the details were taken care of. Hotel Les Chambres d’Or is in the heart of the old town, near Vatican City. The hotel is spread across several historic buildings, which reflects Rome’s preservation rules and didn’t bother me. I’d happily stay again.

I felt very welcome and comfortable here. The staff were especially kind, and the location is convenient, about 10 minutes from the Vatican and the Vatican Museums.

My flight was canceled, and the only replacement flights I could find were $2,700 US each for the three of us. Four days before my reservation, I asked for a refund and was told no. With Ash Wednesday next week, I figured they’d have no trouble booking the room that close to the date. It felt like there was no compassion or sense of right and wrong, just concern for the money. If you run into a problem, they won’t care. I attached a screenshot of the full conversation after I called and got the same answer. UPDATE: They knew I’d asked to cancel and still tried to charge me a no-show fee. I’m not paying it. See the screenshot.

After checkout at 10 a.m., my flight wasn’t until 7:30 p.m. They let me leave my luggage, then met me back at the hotel when it was time to collect it. They even let me use a separate room to change into my airport clothes, were patient while I sorted my bags, and Julio (Jose?) offered to help carry them downstairs. So sweet. The hotel and surrounding area felt very safe, and it’s close to what you need, with the Vatican and all kinds of transport a short walk away. They were quick to answer whenever I called, too. At 10 p.m. I needed help with an issue, and the manager, whose name I didn’t catch, was kind and sorted it out right away. It was my first trip to Europe, traveling solo, and I felt at home as soon as I arrived. The person who greeted me, Jose or Julio, I unfortunately can’t remember, was kind and accommodating, spoke wonderful English, and was lovely to talk to. Check-in was fast. He showed me everything in the room and stayed to answer questions. The room was beautiful and just right for one, or at most two people. The bed was very comfortable, the TV and Wi-Fi worked great, and everything was clean. They cleaned the room daily. I know this is a lot, but I’m blown away by how good the stay was, especially with all the negative reviews. It was affordable, and they really went out of their way. I’d recommend it and stay here every time I’m in Rome. Thanks for making my first trip so comfortable and easy!
