Meridiana

The staff were the best part, so nice and helpful. They checked us in early, gave us tips for getting around town, and handed us a card for a restaurant they recommended. The restaurant gives customers a special sweet if they show the card, and we went there. The food was top notch. Staff greeted us with a huge smile whenever we came back in. The hotel itself feels old, but it’s good value for money. Everything was clean, including the bathroom, and the room had AC, a hair dryer, a TV, and everything else we needed. It’s not near the city centre, but getting there from the hotel is easy.

I felt safe enough as a solo female traveler, and reception staff were friendly. They gave me public transport advice and a map of the main attractions. There’s no elevator, but the staff were happy to help with my bag. If stairs are a problem, ask for a first-floor room to cut them down. The room was clean, though it had a slight musty smell, probably from the old furnishings. I can understand some of the complaints, but this is a 2 star hotel at one of the cheaper prices right next to Termini. You get what you pay for, it won’t be a 5 star hotel. The location is very convenient, just 3-4 minutes from Termini, Rome’s central train station, with easy access to the metro and buses. Our room was nice and clean for a two-star hotel. Sadly, during our four-night visit we never had hot water in the bathroom.

The first room’s AC wasn’t working, so after we’d unpacked they moved us to another one. We hoped that would solve things, but after sightseeing we came back and found a bed bug crawling on one of the beds. Staff offered to change the sheets, but I pointed out that wouldn’t get rid of any other bugs. They showed me a larger room instead. I asked to inspect the beds first and found long, dark hair on the sheets. That was completely unacceptable, so we decided to find somewhere else to stay. They agreed to refund us, but we had to look for a place around midnight, which wasn’t easy. The lady said she’d get us a taxi and pay for it, but she didn’t in the end. We visited on 5.5.2024 and had to leave the same day. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel because of the hygiene conditions.
