The veranda with its sitting area and breakfast table was a lovely extra, and the location worked well for us, about a ten-minute walk from St. Peter’s Square. Eleonora and Martina welcomed us like family, and we immediately felt at home. The rooms were beautiful, well furnished, and spotless, with new bathrooms, a stocked mini-bar, three TVs with Sky, and very fast Wi-Fi. Martina had even baked a delicious cake for our children, and Eleonora was there to help with anything we needed. We’ve just returned from a weekend in Rome, and couldn’t have chosen better.

The room was as spacious and lovely as it looks in the photos. The host even came in to tidy up, putting away things like toothpaste and toothbrushes, like a mother would. The owners and their daughter have divided the apartment into two Airbnb rooms. You might see the owners hanging laundry on the balcony, but they respect guests’ privacy and quickly disappear when anyone arrives. Guests can make their own coffee and help themselves to food from the small fridge, so don’t expect hot breakfast dishes like fried eggs. The Vatican is close, about a ten-minute walk to the left when you head out in the morning. It’s still a good idea to book Vatican tickets online ahead of time, since there can reportedly be long lines even before 8 am. Since the place isn’t in the city center, taxis can easily pick you up or drop you off with luggage, which matters a lot. We’d arranged an airport-to-central-station taxi to take us to the building for €15 through the host, but when we tried booking on the day, the driver wasn’t there. We had to take the metro and then a taxi instead. There were no signs downstairs, so the driver had to call the host to confirm the address.

Getting there by subway is inconvenient, and it’s hard to find your way because the directions aren’t very clear. The website and Google Maps don’t agree. The lady was friendly and welcoming, though.

It has a peaceful, home-like feel, with all the comfort you need.
