The building is quite nice, and while my room wasn't especially pretty, it had charm and didn't look bad. It could have used a proper clean, though: there was dirt around the room and the fridge was dirty. The Wi-Fi was down to one bar and kept cutting out, only working slowly for a few seconds at a time. If you need to work from your room, don't stay here. There was mold too. The hairdryer did run, but it was incredibly slow and took about three times as long as usual to dry my hair. Not a huge problem, just frustrating and weird. It's not a bad place, but several basics need attention: reliable Wi-Fi, a proper room cleaning, the mold, and a new hairdryer. If they ran it properly, it could be a nice hotel.

The room was the biggest letdown. The booking and photos showed modern, newly renovated rooms, but ours was old, worn and outdated, and looked nothing like what was online. That felt misleading, especially since we were there for a special occasion. I'd mentioned before we arrived that it was my wife's birthday and said I was open to arranging something. We appreciated the gesture in the room, but the communication was extremely poor. There was no confirmation beforehand or clear agreement, and nobody checked or clarified the arrangements. A simple conversation would have avoided a frustrating situation. Poor communication and the room presentation spoiled our stay at Hotel Porta Pia. I wouldn't recommend it based on this experience.

The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful. They patiently answered my questions and greeted me each time. It's in a very good location, close to a supermarket, wet market, pharmacies, shops and lots of restaurants. The hotel is small, inside an apartment building. My room was clean and modern, and the bed and pillows were fine, but the space was extremely tight. There was nowhere to put my suitcase or sit except on the bed, so it was hard to relax. Breakfast isn't standard here: they offer a few slices of tart or pie and drinks, and charge extra.

The room was cozy, really comfortable and spotlessly clean, with everything we needed for a perfect stay. We were very happy with the visit and will definitely come back. A special thanks for the care and warm welcome. On our wedding anniversary, they congratulated us and surprised us with a lovely bottle of wine. It was a very sweet and touching gesture. At checkout, the staff kindly let us leave our luggage at the hotel, so we could enjoy a walk around Rome, pick it up later and then head to the airport. That was so convenient and thoughtful. Thanks for looking after us so well.

The location was great, and the people working there made us feel very welcome. I was really happy with my stay. Everything was clean when I arrived.
