The location is the one real plus, but even that only goes so far. Check-in happens at another hotel seven blocks away, and you then have to haul your bags over Rome's uneven sidewalks. The rooms are four floors up in a mixed-use building. There is a lift, but it wasn't working and didn't reach the fourth floor anyway. My single room was tiny, and the bathroom smell was unbearable. It reeked of mould and mildew, so I had to keep the door shut just to breathe. The room was so small that the smell still drifted through. I bought an air freshener so I could sleep without gagging. I've travelled all over the world for decades, and this was the worst hotel room I've ever had. The shower door was broken and hanging loose from the top rail. The walls were chipped and gouged, the minibar fridge didn't work even after I plugged it in, and the curtain covering the closet alcove had a blood smear on it. The window looked into a dingy shaft facing other apartments or rooms. Calling it a courtyard would be generous. It looked like somewhere for garbage. Maybe the bigger, more expensive rooms are better, but this place's three-star rating is outrageous. At best, it's a one-star stay. The management controls the room, and what they control made for a dismal experience. And that awful smell was absolutely disgusting.

The biggest problem was the lack of anyone on site when something went wrong. One morning, my child closed the bathroom door and couldn't open it from either side. We had to travel all the way to the check-in building, 20 minutes away, to ask for help. My child was stuck in there for an hour, panicking and crying the whole time. The hotel is run remotely from another property to cut costs, so there was nobody available for emergencies. The room itself was dark and much too small. The toilet and shower area were so cramped you could barely sit properly. The refrigerator was old, rusty, and looked like an antique. It barely worked and didn't get cold. The extra bed was tilted and uncomfortable, and the pillow was hard and unpleasant. The location is fairly good, but I absolutely don't recommend staying somewhere this poorly managed, especially when a problem can turn serious so quickly.

The room was more spacious than most European hotel rooms I've stayed in, and the AC worked well, so we were comfortable. The hotel sits on a major road with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. There's no reception in the building itself. Check-in is at a separate hotel that seems to manage several properties. We arrived early, and they kindly held our bags while we walked around and got lunch. Afterward, we came back and walked less than half a mile to our room. You get a code for the shared kitchen area and a key for your room. The lift is tiny, maybe good for two people, and had an out-of-order notice up the whole week. The toilet also wasn't great at flushing, so be careful what you put in it to avoid trouble. Those were the only reasons I gave four stars instead of five.

Awful place for 75€ a day. Tiny room, no fridge, barely any water pressure, a bad smell from the AC, and no phone signal. Welcome to jet2holiday.

The rooms were very noisy, with no soundproofing, and ours wasn't very clean. It was really dusty, the locker was broken, and there was no way to lock the room safely. We reported the locker on the first day, but nothing was done. The second key for the glass ground-floor door was broken too, and reception never replaced it. On our last night, we had to call another hotel, Miami, to get into the building. On the plus side, the hotel is on central Via Nazionale, reception service was good, and they changed the towels every day. Just be aware that breakfast and reception are at another hotel, about a 10-minute walk away.
