Il piccolo borgo di Trastevere

The kitchen was so poorly stocked that my niece’s toy dishes had more pieces. There were only tiny mismatched glasses, plus a broken frying pan. We had to pull the fridge out just to plug in the washing machine because there weren’t any other sockets. It felt like some awful hidden-camera prank, except it was real, and we’d paid far more than this apartment was worth. The terrace was just a damp-smelling hole, with no appeal at all. The listing’s “garden” was really an inner courtyard shared by all the buildings, not somewhere you’d actually relax. The apartment also had plenty of damage: the frying pan handle was broken, the shower head was broken, and the shower wouldn’t drain until my father unclogged it. From what I’d read in Booking.com comments, it had been blocked since 2021. I felt scammed. The owner never came to greet us or explain the facilities or other useful details, including how many stairs we’d have to climb or the condition of the place.
