We paid in advance through booking, but when my girlfriend and I arrived, we couldn't get checked in. The stated window was 13:00 to 15:00, and nobody had explained how to reach the accommodation in a random-floor apartment building. We found our way into what seemed to be the reception, really just a passage between rooms, but nobody was there or had left instructions. Their phone number didn't work, and our emails got no reply. After trying calls and messages and waiting from 14:00 until 15:00, we gave up and booked somewhere else. We're still trying to get our money back, with no response to calls or emails. One room also appeared to have been left open, perhaps by cleaning staff, with a key in the door. We initially thought it might be ours, but someone's bags and belongings were inside. Even if you do manage to check in, I wouldn't leave valuables in the room.

The location is a real plus, right across from the Vatican. The elevator is there, though tiny, maybe only enough for one person. Self check-in means calling the person in charge, and that international call could be a problem without phone service for it. Hot water was barely available.

The room was tidy and clean, with comfortable beds and pillows and plenty of storage. It was a single room with two beds and a bathroom, on the floor above ground level. Check-in was a little tricky because we had a data-only SIM and missed important details in the host's voice messages.

We slept really well in the super comfortable bed, and the room itself was lovely. It's a quiet area, less than a block from St. Peter's square, with a fantastic sit-down restaurant just three doors away. The walls are thin, so other guests moving around can be heard, though it didn't bother us much.

The staff were so lovely, and the place is right beside Vatican City. The room's water pressure was low and the drainage wasn't good, though. I hope they work on those.
