This place is really impractical with strollers. You have to climb one flight of stairs before reaching the elevator, and then climb two more flights after getting off on the third floor. The apartment is spacious, but hygiene was basically nonexistent. The floor was already dirty and dusty when we arrived, and there weren’t any spare plastic trash bags even though we’d booked four days. The microwave was so filthy that warming bottles for our three children was impossible.

The apartment wasn’t very hygienic, with very dirty floors when we arrived. We were seven people staying for four days and had no extra bin bags to replace the full ones, which was especially necessary for our group. The owner didn’t welcome us. Getting to the apartment was exhausting with children, luggage, and strollers: first one flight of stairs to the elevator, then two more flights from the third floor. There was nowhere secure to leave the bags or strollers either. It’s not a good fit for families with children.

The lasagna was delicious, and the waiters were lovely. Great place, I recommend it.

We paid €660 through my Booking login for the IREX Trastevere private apartment. We arrived at night and planned to stay three nights, but left because I didn’t feel safe. A door connected the apartment we booked to another one, and someone in that apartment could open it at any time. There was no key to lock our apartment from inside, so we were entirely at the mercy of whoever was on the other side. There wasn’t a key for the bedroom either. I reported what happened and asked for a refund because the accommodation wasn’t as agreed, but IREX refused. We left and paid another €792 for three nights at Mercury Colosseo in Rome, using my husband’s Booking login. We’ve traveled around the world using the Booking app, and I thought it would ensure customers had a good place to stay. I’ve realized the app seems more interested in helping owners than guests. What can Booking do for customers like us? What is it for if it doesn’t offer security and assurance? I’m including photos of the bedroom door without a key, the door between the two apartments, which the other apartment controls, leaving guests at the mercy of whoever is on the other side, and our bags as we left the building. The bags were too big to fit in the tiny elevator. I searched online and found that IREX Apartments Roma is the company managing this and other apartments.
