Hotel La Pergola

The staff were really friendly, and having a McDonald’s and market right next to the hotel was handy. Apart from that, I’d only suggest this place if you plan to sleep there and eat every other meal elsewhere. Breakfast was cold and sugary, mostly pastries, ham, cheese, and drinks, with no fruit, vegetables, or eggs. The rooms are cramped, and the shared balconies felt strange because the see-through blinds let me look into someone else’s room. I was on the first floor and had the worst room among my friends, with a very, very, VERY tiny bathroom. The pillows were brown, and the plastic around the shower was really dirty and looked moldy. Bring your own hand and face towels: partway through the stay, they replaced the regular towels with thin ones.

The location worked well for a few days in Rome, with a metro stop nearby and a supermarket just a short walk away. Receptionists were very kind, the garden was beautiful, and the renovated bathroom was good. Breakfast was tasty, especially the croissants, which were fresh and delicious. The rooms could use renovation, though, and ours was too dark. Cleaning could be better: a piece of pasta was on our floor from check-in until checkout. We could also hear everything from other rooms through the thin walls. Still, we had a good stay with no major problems and didn’t complain about anything. Thank you!

The people working here were the highlight for us. They were warm, friendly, spoke lots of languages, and were happy to help us practice Italian. The hotel is a little outside the main city, which meant fewer tourist traps and a chance to use our Italian. Our room was pleasant and cleaned every day. Breakfast was modest by American standards, without eggs and the like, but there were different pastries to try. We loved our time here!

The staff were great, friendly, and customer-focused, and I liked the parakeet cage. It’s well placed near supermarkets, restaurants, and the metro. Breakfast was a standard sweet spread, but very good quality. The lobby, outside, and small garden are modern and really nice; the rooms are another story and could do with renovation. At least there’s air conditioning. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the neighbors’ conversations. I’d recommend it for a short stay in Rome.
