Laurentia Hotel

Beware of this hotel. We stayed from July 20 to July 22. While our family was downstairs eating breakfast on July 22, staff with access to the room key stole cash and jewelry from my purse in the room during that half-hour window. We have filed a police complaint. Apparently, there are no security cameras around the rooms or hallways. It looks like an organized crime targeting tourists. While you’re eating breakfast with your family, they’re busy stealing from your room. DO NOT STAY HERE. THE MANAGER IS ALSO INVOLVED.

We both felt safe and comfortable throughout our stay. Since we’re two women, the managers explained which routes were safe to walk, and there was always someone in the lobby. On our early morning trip to Pisa, the manager made sure we had breakfast even though we were leaving two hours before the usual time. They also arranged our taxi when we checked out. We really enjoyed staying here.

The coffee at breakfast was good, though the food was mostly sweet pastries unless ham and cheese first thing is your thing. Getting around was manageable: the metro is about a ten-minute walk, much like the walk to the train station, and a rickety tram passes by, though I have no idea where it goes. The main sights are some distance away. The neighborhood looks a bit bleak, but there are bars and restaurants among the laundromats and tattoo shops. My room was clean, with a roomy bathroom, though the shower cubicle was annoyingly small. The bed was hard, and I find the lack of in-room coffee facilities hard to forgive. The walls are thin, too. When the woman next door started making noises, it sounded like she was having a heart attack 🤗. All in all, a perfectly reasonable hotel, close enough to the station.

The bathroom was spacious, and my room was clean with working AC, which was a lifesaver during the summer heat wave. Breakfast was limited but tasted okay. The location is decent, not far from Termini, though most attractions are quite a way off and the area looked a little dodgy at night. The people working here were kind, and the service was very nice.
