The rooftop bar was probably the best part of this hotel. It’s in the center of the historic District, and I enjoyed walking around the area. The room was very nice too. The gym is very outdated, and the windowless restaurant does a decent job with breakfast.

The front desk staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful throughout the visit. Breakfast was great too, with lots of choices and better quality than many European breakfasts I’ve had over years of travelling to EMEA several times a year. The bathroom was clean and great, with plenty of towels, which isn’t always the case in some European countries. Internet was okay for most things, though a few apps only worked once I switched to my hotspot, so the filtering seemed random. There’s no A/C, but that’s a 50/50 thing in a lot of the EU. I asked for a fan to move the air, and that worked fine. The bed was firm, and the pillows were small and lost their shape. U.S. Marriotts have bigger pillows that hold up better, and their beds give a little more. This Marriott’s gym was very small and hot, with old equipment and a tiny selection of weights. It wasn’t terrible, just not average or good. I couldn’t work in my room with a laptop because the glass tables meant I couldn’t use a mouse. The pictures showed wooden tables, which wasn’t accurate, so I went to work in the downstairs common area each day. The manager came over, asked what I was doing, grunted when I said I was working, then left. I was a guest, and he was completely in the wrong. I won’t be convinced otherwise. It’s a common area in a Marriott. The night before, I’d asked the bar for cutlery and got attitude. I wasn’t eating there as background, but it’s a hotel bar and providing cutlery for a guest is completely normal. The hotel is nice, but it doesn’t suit a work trip if you want to work at night or during the day. I was wearing a collared shirt, not a T-shirt and shorts.

We had a wonderful family stay at the Rome Le Meridian Visconti Hotel from February 22 to 27. The location made it easy to visit major attractions and restaurants while exploring Rome together. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious enough for a family, with the amenities we needed, and housekeeping kept everything tidy during our stay. From arrival, the staff made us feel welcome and looked after. Check-in was smooth, and the team were friendly and ready to help with questions or requests. We’d happily return and recommend it.

Tokyo and I will be back soon. I really miss the staff at Le Meridien Visconti Rome. The hotel sits in a cute neighbourhood in the heart of Rome, about a five-minute walk from the Vatican Piazza Cavour, 15 minutes from Vatican City and maybe 20 minutes from Piazza Navona. The rooms are spacious and well designed, with a very comfortable bed. I love Roman water, and the refillable bottles and water stations at the end of the hallway were a great touch. I enjoyed drinks and bites at the rooftop restaurant, and the main hotel restaurant had the best Cacio E Pepe and the BEST French fries! I also enjoyed the live music.

We’ve stayed at Le Méridien twice, and I absolutely love this hotel. It’s right in central Rome, within walking distance of the Vatican Museum, Vatican City, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and plenty of other major sites, plus shopping. The staff provide wonderful service and went above and beyond for our wedding anniversary, upgrading our room and leaving ice-cold complimentary Prosecco for us when we arrived. Both rooms came with complimentary water bottles and a mini bar. The mini bar was excellent, with sodas, orange juice and healthy veggie juice, though refills are charged once you’ve had everything. It was perfect for a hot Roman summer day at 90°F / 33°C. The bed, pillows and sheets were amazing. The pillowtop was cosy, the blankets kept us warm with the cold air conditioning, and the AC in each room worked like a dream. There was a fresh robe in each room and complimentary slippers for both of us. The bathrooms were nice and comfortable, and the lighting was superb for makeup or getting ready. Breakfast at the restaurant is €20 a person and worth it. We booked the room first, looked at the breakfast and added it afterward, which worked perfectly. There were eggs, prosciutto, beans, breads, cereal, pancakes, waffles with syrup or fresh honeycomb, fruit, yogurt, meats and the biggest Nutella I’ve ever seen. There’s a rooftop terrace for light bites and drinks, plus a restaurant on the 1st level. We chose to eat out and explore, though the hotel restaurants looked great. I’ll stay here again the next time I’m in Rome.
