We got our money back after two attempts to resolve the dispute through the credit card company, which didn’t do its due diligence. I’m giving Lea one star only because zero isn’t an option, and I want other customers to beware. They leave it up to you to reach them and take no responsibility. There’s no excuse for this lack of communication today. My wife and I booked two rooms for three days through our AAA Travel Agent in April, 2025, for September, 2025. We paid the full amount in advance by credit card. When we arrived at 1:30pm on a Thursday, we couldn’t get into the building. Nobody was there, and no one answered our calls. We messaged a friend in NY to contact our travel agent, since we couldn’t reach Lea. We ended up staying all three days at a hotel down the street, where we were treated with care and respect, while our travel agent kept trying to get hold of someone at Lea. When we disputed the charge after returning, Lea told the card company we hadn’t called 48 hours ahead to confirm. The booking only asked for that if we expected to arrive late. I gave the card company proof that we’d tried to contact them, but they hadn’t contacted us or our travel agent to check whether we were coming. Later they told our agent they’d tried to call us but couldn’t get through. Why not use the email on the reservation, or contact the agent by phone or email? Our mobile provider’s records showed no international calls to my cell from April through September 18th. They lied to cover themselves. How horrendous. They don’t answer the phone and have no voicemail, either on an answering machine or a cell phone. How can you run a business in the 21st Century without any way for customers to reach you?

This is a serious security concern at via Elio Taof 4. A few days ago I noticed that the main entrance door wasn’t latching after people went inside. I told the community, and it was fixed, but I checked again today and found the same problem. Someone may be leaving it open to get WiFi or access other points of interest in a nearby hotel. I’ve seen similar situations before, where a house advertised as an AirBnb used the internet data from an adjacent hotel. To me, this is a serious breach of security.

I really enjoyed staying here. The prices are good, the location is great, and the service is first class. A great hotel, highly recommended.

The location worked really well for us, and there are great restaurant choices nearby. The area gets very lively on Saturday night, though, and that kept us awake. We hadn’t realized this was more like a hostel than a hotel: it’s just five rooms in a converted apartment. The walls are thin, and noise from the small reception area woke us in the morning. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the service was excellent. The building has a small elevator that felt a bit scary, and you have to climb 15 steps from the curb to get to it. Since the street is pedestrian-only, we also had to haul our large bags a block or two over cobblestones.

The window looks onto a street with restaurants, but the insulation keeps the noise out. The room was clean and pleasant, with comfortable beds, a shower, plenty of hot water, good toiletries, and a towel warmer. There’s both a radiator and air conditioning for heating and cooling, plus a small fridge, an electric kettle with coffee and tea, and a little safe. The location is by the Great Synagogue on one side and the main Street of the Jewish Ghetto, with its Kosher Restaurants and Bakeries, on the other. Police are stationed at every street corner because of the Jewish institutions, so it feels as safe as it can. The design is modern and nice, and the place is very clean.
