Ludus Rooms

The hotel is only a few flights up, so keep that in mind if you're bringing lots of bags. We felt very safe in both the hotel and the area. The room was great and really clean, and the staff were kind and helpful. You're right beside the Colosseum, just walk out the door and it's on your left. There's a key for the main building door, which closes at 10 pm, as well as a room key card for when you're out late.

The view from our window was astounding: we could see the colosseum, though we didn't spend much time in the room. It was immaculately clean and had a kitchen and fridge we could use whenever we wanted. Laura, our hostess, was amazing, made sure we had everything we needed, and helped us find hidden gems in and around Rome. It was such a beautiful and affordable first visit to Rome, and the hotel was cleaned every day by the time we got back. We 100% recommend it and will return. I'd give the service and location five stars, but the AC only works on heating during winter 😅.

The location was excellent, just a short distance from the Colosseum, with lots of dining options downstairs. Staff were friendly, and the bed was reasonably comfortable. But at around 240 euros a night, the quality and inconveniences felt overpriced. The double room was tiny, simply decorated, and had no view. Its window faced an inner courtyard, with kitchen odors from nearby restaurants and a lot of noise. It was hard to open, leaving the room poorly ventilated and humid, and paint was peeling from the ceiling. The room is on the third floor with no elevator, so you have to climb the stairs, which isn't ideal with large luggage.
