Maison Rasella Suites

I couldn’t get into the hotel without help from other guests. You apparently have to call when you arrive so they can send you a message on Whatsapp, then fill in the information before they explain how to access the room. The phone number posted on the building, booking and Google Maps was WRONG. There’s no mobile service in the building, so once inside there’s no way to get the information you need. Another guest gave me the right number. I wound up helping two other groups get into their rooms, too. This was my mom’s first international trip and this was our first hotel, so now she probably won’t trust my choices for future stays.

We paid in advance through Booking.com and had a confirmed reservation, but there was no reception or anyone to help when we arrived. After waiting for more than two hours, we were told a “system error” meant the room wasn’t available, and we had to urgently find somewhere else to stay. They promised a refund, but it never came, and our later attempts to contact them were blocked. I strongly advise being cautious before booking here.

The location is the only good thing about these rooms. We had no hot water for the first day and a half. On the morning of day three my girlfriend finally got a hot shower, but the water was cold again when I tried. The TV didn’t work, and they never fixed it. The appliances and fittings, including the doors, bathroom heater and wifi, are the cheapest quality, though the toilet is Grohe. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Online check-in was clear and really smooth. It was our first time in Rome, and we only came back to the room to rest, but it had everything we needed. The renovation was lovely, the bathroom was clean, there were plenty of towels, and the bed was comfortable. Restaurants, shops and Trevi Fountain are just a few minutes away, as is the metro.
