Morpheus Rooms

Alessia and her husband were really friendly. The room was clean and nice, with good air conditioning and a good shower. It’s about a 10-minute walk to the Colosseum and ancient town. No complaints at all.

We liked the location, with restaurants and bars nearby and Via Nazionale easy to reach on foot. The room was comfortable for four people. But on our last night the air conditioner stopped working. Someone came to try to fix it, but it still didn’t work, and the hotel only said, “I’m sorry.” We had a really bad night and expected more help. They didn’t offer another room, a discount, or even a ride to the airport. I’ve travelled on my own for almost 27 years, and this is the first time a room problem was answered with just a sorry text.

The best thing about this property is its location: the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, and other sights are within a 15-minute walk, with several restaurants nearby. The room, though, was only really suitable for a couple. For our family of four it was too small, with a bunk bed provided for two adults. The building is old and on the fifth floor, and the elevator often took a long time. Outside areas were dusty, dirty, and needed repairs. We also weren’t told at first that we needed a code to get in, so we had to call the contact person for it. We saw no staff on our first day and had to communicate with the manager on WhatsApp.

The only real help I got from the owner was arranging a car from the airport to the B&B. The driver charged me 65 Euros, more than the owner had said, and it may have cost only 40-50 Euros otherwise. I felt miserable and nervous here, and I wouldn’t stay at this kind of place again. The room was very small and narrow. After a city tour, I came back in the evening to a cold room; I later realized the cleaner had opened the windows, and the heater was unplugged. With nobody at the front desk, I had to message the owner on WhatsApp to work out how the heating worked and turn it on myself. While I was struggling with that, I felt the owner was blaming me for the heater problem. There was no one at the front desk who could speak English. The person there was available only from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM and couldn’t speak English either. The food was meager too, just a few croissants and a coffee machine. Take it or leave it, nobody serves you or seems to care. I won’t stay here again.
