Mr. Brown - San Paolo

A convenient, clean place to stay, with everyday things close at hand: coffee shops, restaurants, laundry, bus tickets, the subway and barber shops. It made for an easy, pleasant stay.

We had the whole apartment to ourselves, which made the stay feel especially nice. There are three roomy bedrooms, one double and two triples, plus a shared space with a fully equipped kitchen and coffee machine. One of the triple rooms has a private bathroom outside the room. The location is right across from San Paolo Metro B station, and getting there by car was easy. We found several free parking spaces nearby, and with a little luck you can find one too. Breakfast wasn’t included in our rate, but there are plenty of choices in the area. Check-in and check-out are handled online, with codes sent for the building and rooms.

We only stayed one night, but had a great time. The triple room was clean, comfortable and had an en suite bathroom. It’s close to the metro and the Bambino Gesù clinic, where we had an appointment. Parking was easy to find, and we stayed in the area for dinner. I’ll definitely come back.

The room I booked, called the black, was far too small for four people. We had to turn sideways to reach the bed, and the sofa bed was unsuitable for two children: its mattress was thin and the slats creaked constantly. The mini balcony door only opened halfway because a low false ceiling inside blocked it. Don’t trust the misleading courtesy shown during booking. After paying for three nights, I asked whether we could leave on the third day and get a refund for the final night, since we couldn’t bear staying in that room any longer. They said no. They also told me that changing rooms meant spending six hours outside the hotel with my two children, who had just left the hospital, one of them with a tube in his nose. Those responses showed a clear lack of professionalism and humanity.
