One Hundred Rooms

We had a wonderful time in Rome, and I’m very happy with our stay. The room and bathroom were clean, the WiFi worked really well, and the metro was nearby. Shops and restaurants were close too. Fantastic, I recommend it.

The place was okay overall, though it could use a bit more cleaning. It’s close to the metro and there are several really good places to eat nearby. The tourist tax was much higher than at the other places we stayed. We also waited outside for about 40 minutes to check in because internet problems meant we couldn’t transfer the tax internationally.

My parents, both retired and in their seventies, have worked their whole lives. They don’t live in Rome and sometimes come to see me for a night. They chose this B&B for the third time because their first two stays had gone well. But when they arrived at 6 PM, the room was dirty and the beds hadn’t been made. The owner blamed the cleaning lady and apologized, but offered no refund or discount at all. Someone was sent to clean while my parents had to go for a two-hour walk. The next day, after that awful treatment, the gentleman messaged to accuse my father of taking the bath towels. They said the towels were simply in a different place from where they’d found them, and they were rightly furious. I’ve read other reviews saying this isn’t the first time he’s done something similar. My parents are well-mannered and have never stolen a cent in their lives. They paid every cent, including the stay and tourist tax, even after this terrible experience. The tax was €7 instead of the €6 it should have been for a second-rate B&B. He caused them trouble, did nothing to make it right, and then accused them of stealing. That needless insult ruined their weekend and mine. I hope he reads this and thinks about what he’s done.

The Wi-Fi doesn’t work!!! The rooms do look like the photos, they were clean, and everything worked apart from the locks. The hotel uses an automatic, password-protected lock system. On the first day, every lock broke and the rooms jammed shut. We waited until late evening for the owner to come open them. The Polish guests next door couldn’t get into their rooms either. The next morning, we learned that someone close to my friend had died, and she was crying and hysterical. The Poles brought her water, a 0.5-liter bottle that had already been opened, and tea. They tried to comfort her, and we’re grateful to them. After we got home, the owner texted that we’d broken into drawers and stolen his water. That’s disgraceful. He didn’t find out what happened before accusing us of stealing. We also had to pay a tax that for some reason wasn’t included in the price, and he threatened to report it to the authorities if we didn’t. We paid, of course. The whole accusation left a terrible impression. The locks were also a poor system. If you present yourself as a hotel, you should provide at least one bottle of water per person. I don’t recommend this place. At least he didn’t accuse us of taking the tea.
