Paola A Trastevere

The walk along the river to St. Peter's, with those views, was unforgettable. This family-run inn is a lovely base for a short Rome visit: the mother and daughter who own and manage it were helpful before and throughout my stay. It's near the three main Trastavere cathedrals, plenty of restaurants, and only a few blocks from the river. Public transport is easy to use, and a ride from St. Peter's to the northeast near Galleria Borgherse cost just 12 euro. The room was beautifully furnished, with a very nice modern bathroom. Space around the double bed was tight, as in some European rooms, but there was enough. The inn is several floors above a busy street, so it was quiet, and I liked the old-fashioned elevator. I'd happily return.

We came back for a second stay and still wouldn't choose anywhere else in Trastevere. The rooms are very clean, and Paola makes sure you have what you need and are comfortable. Just ask her if anything comes up. Breakfast isn't served anymore, but there's an Italian espresso machine and plenty of goodies by the entrance. Cafes, bars, and restaurants are only minutes away. Our room was huge, the bed was comfortable, and the AC worked really well during our two nights at Paola’s. The location in Trastevere is just right, and Paola and her daughter were so sweet. They brought a very nice breakfast to the room, and since we had an early flight on our last morning, they even left something for us the night before. Such a great find for the price. I'll book here again when I'm back in Rome.

Trastevere made a great base, with lots of excellent restaurants within a 10-minute walk and the main Rome sights about 20-40 minutes away on foot. We had a lovely stay at Paola A Trastevere. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was really comfortable. Paola and her daughter Costanza were great hosts. We only caught breakfast once because we had early starts on two of our three mornings, but it was tasty and plentiful. Costanza got it ready in under 10 minutes when we had timed Colosseum tickets. One minor hassle: the room key was fussy, and locking or unlocking the door took some effort. We could hear the street and neighbors, though earplugs blocked the outside noise. We'd recommend staying here and would come back to Rome.
