For me, the neighborhood was a big part of the appeal. San Lorenzo has great restaurants at local prices, a supermarket nearby, and bus stops just a short walk away. It's a real Roman area, with graffiti around, so it may not suit everyone. The main sights are a bit of a trek: I averaged about 35 minutes by bus to the major attractions, and nearly an hour to St Peter’s Basilica. The room was clean, roomy, and well looked after. Climate control worked very well, the shower pressure was strong, and there was an espresso machine with complimentary pods, tea, and a mini fridge. Just note there’s no microwave or elevator, and the stairs are fairly narrow, so getting luggage up can be a chore. I stayed last month and only just got around to writing this. It worked well for me, especially as a solo traveler or backpacker, and perhaps for younger couples who want a neighborhood feel and don't mind being away from the center.
